From Humble Beginnings
This photo, taken in 1998, was the first official school photo of CVAS. Then known as The Cathedral School (TCS), we operated from one campus at 39 Victoria Street, Grafton.
By 2006 a secondary campus was opened on Centenary Drive, Clarenza, a short 10 minute drive from our original campus. Six years later in 2012 the Cathedral Campus was again at capacity and the decision was made to move our Years 5 and 6 students to the Clarenza Campus.
Not long after the Clarenza Campus was built the school decided to update the name of the school to Clarence Valley Anglican School (CVAS) which helped market the school to the entire Clarence Valley community.
In 2016 Ted and Peggy Clarke generously gifted CVAS their farm “Farnworth” at Glenreagh. This wonderful gift provides our agricultural students a broad space to put into practice what they have learnt in the classroom. It also provides a rich learning environment for all our students and we look forward to seeing this develop over the many years to come.
In 2019 we launched a 25 year Master Plan for our Clarenza Campus. Part of the first stage is the construction of a Performance Centre which has now been completed and officially opened in 2021.
We are certainly proud of our humble origins and look forward to continued growth of CVAS over the many years to come.
The Cathedral School was officially opened by the Bishop on 20 March 1998.
Each year we celebrate Foundation Day on 20 March.
